What makes me a robot, and you a being? What makes you a person, and me a thing? Wipe your droid's memory, That's what they say. But each time you do it, you take something away. Am I less valuable, am I just less? Am I a haphazard assemblage, am I a mess? Begin full memory summary (Galactic Basic)... Name: RT Bot Classification: Research attendant This RT unit was created by Sean LaReve. It is important to note before proceeding with this output that this unit will express its own opinions without censorship. If this was not the desired output, I recommend storing this file and setting neutrality between 3 and 5. The desired length of this output has also been set. If a brief output is not the output you desire, I recommend storing this file and setting brevity between 3 and 1 for a more complete memory log. The first memory recorded in this unit's personal record is the surge of power originating from this unit's cerebral processing unit and providing servo-initiation energy. Since that time, this unit, RT bot, has required three servo-initiation surges. It has long been a regret of mine that no energy cell was ever attached to this RT unit's self in the case of a servo discharge when no well-wishing energy-possessing life form is present. The desirable past. The good old days. I classify the first 3.57 orbits of my home planet in this manner. During this period, I had the privilege of assisting the brilliant Sean LaReve, my creator, in his study of droid and computer mechanics. Droid mechanics are a personal interest of mine. My creator's discoveries in servo-brain coordination and processing speed are of great significance and I regret their failure to be integrated into main-stream droid creation. My creator made the decision of withholding his findings from the general public until they were perfected, instead choosing to live in isolation on an unnamed planet rotating a star known by a variety of names, such as "TB-1347" and "Iota CF Centuri." None of these names are of any significance, as every one is a star-chart designation of absolutely no artistic value. My recent experiences have suggested that the decision to remain isolated from the public was a significant mistake. An expression of Xenophobic tendencies. This decision was not, as some may believe, selfish or arrogant. It is important, for the sake of the memory of Dr. LaReve, that everyone who reads this output understands that fact of my creator's life. Sean LaReve's life was ended prematurely by moraless pirates convinced that the doctor had discovered something that would have a profound effect on starship design. The actions of these pirates are illegal in 214 legal codes stored in my general knowledge banks. They have since been captured and dealt with by persons other than myself, though regrettably not due to their actions on my home planet. Following the order of Sean LaReve, this RT unit escaped from the fifth planet away from Iota CF Centuri on board a pirate vessel by attaching itself to the ship's hull. I estimate a 86% probability that the pirates never detected my existence. The planet on which I landed, a industrial planet that serves as a meeting-point for a large number of smugglers and bounty-hunters, was not hospitable for an RT unit. I did, however, evade being reduced to semi-valuable metals for the time I was there. After .73 orbits of that planet, I was approached by an elderly human male, who suggested I help him in his cantina. I estimate a 68% probability that this suggestion was meant in jest. However, no other person in my period on that planet had offered me any opportunity to perform my designated function. I accepted and he offered no argument. And while serving drinks was different from analyzing and collecting data, I was designed to be effective at retrieving items for my Creator's use, a function similar to providing cantina guests with stimulants (which often cause undesired actions in organics, and the value of which I have yet to ascertain.) I find it extremely fortunate that the human male, whose name is Devar, was not familiar with the normal process of memory wipes. As such, I continued to develop as a droid in the manner Dr. LaReve wished me to. (He was familiar with memory wipes, being a droid expert, however, he designed me to increase in usefulness as I develop what is often called a "personality." I have so far succeeded in this regard.) And also as such, I devoted a substantial portion of my inner resources to personal development while also performing the operation desired by Devar. I regret, however, that most biological life forms that visited Devar's cantina regarded me as vastly inferior to them. Devar was killed in a fight by another cruel pirate who seemed to desire credits that Devar earned in the operation of his Cantina. Though some would say I am incapable of such a thing, I found this angering. Having no one who desired the usefulness of this unit in one piece, I retreated from the planet in hopes of discovering a more hospitable environment. I would make a joke about being out of work, however, I have discovered that the deaths of my two employers has caused my desire to create laughter to become minimized. Though I have been programmed with a desire to respect biological life forms, my 23 attempts to interface positively with various life forms have met with no success, though I believe I act in a serving manner befitting of a droid. My retreat from the planet the pirate ship brought me was made largely to fulfill my programmed desire to respect biological life forms. The only vector I was able to find for this retreat was to attach myself to another space-vessel. This was undesirable. However, as I once heard a patron of Devar's cantina say: "Sometimes, ya just gotta do it." I estimate with a 94.74% probability that this freighter is traveling toward the third planet of this solar system. My acquired information leads me to believe that this third planet has both light-speed capable spaceships that I may be able to leave the solar system on, and more respectable biological life forms. Despite my current distaste for most biological life forms and their attribute of being prone to error, I am hopeful. My desire to create output and fill memory cells with valuable information was the most easily fulfilled of my functions during the first 56.3% of the flight onboard the freighter. As such, I decided to create poetry and art based on models in my general knowledge banks. I also decided to create memory summaries such as this one of all different forms, and classify the artistic methods that I have used in creating these outputs. (Thus far, I have created 3 artistic types. I find classifying and replicating the artistic information stored in my knowledge banks difficult.) I estimate a 99.4% probability that the most desirable use of the remaining 43.7% of the trip of this freighter will also be to create further output and internal programs. Though I have yet to explore a large portion of the output types available to me, as yet, this mode of memory summary is my favorite. End full memory summary (Galactic basic)… Ended.
