Name: Ari-charna Shamira Race: Human Homeworld: Yisrael Description of Yisrael: A fertile planet in the Unknown Regions, Yisrael is surrounded by natural defenses of all sorts. Surrounding the system is a massive, dense asteroid field, and several of the larger asteroids serve as fighter bases for the Yisraeli fighter corps. Others house planetary turbolasers, ion cannons, and missile launchers. Surrounding the asteroid field are several large black holes - not as many or as compact as the Maw, but still very dangerous. Many of the paths through the black holes are mined. Within the asteroid belt are four planets, the third of which is Yisrael. The other three planets have gravitational pulls such that if one does not have one's ship properly calibrated that ship will inevitably either crash or be torn apart by the gravitational forces. The planet itself has two major continents covering about 40% of the planet as well as islands that cover about 10%. The remaining area is ocean, under which are several large cities. The land is divided between metropolis and rural farmland and easily supports its 20 billion person population. Age: 55 Sex: Male Appearance: Affiliation: Soon to be Palestar Crusade History: Born Baruch ben Chaim, he entered the universe during the time of the Bountiful Peace. The most recent civil war had ended with King Yosef Avriel on the throne. It was during this time that the planet Yisrael advanced technologically so far that, by the end of the peace, they fielded an advanced planetary defense fleet. Like all things, the peace came to an end when Baruch was 15. War broke out and chaos reigned for five full years. During this time, Baruch joined the Yisraeli governmental army and served with distinction and by the end of the war had risen to the rank of Captain. Yisraeli custom was for adults, upon achieving some mark of distinction, to change their name to something fitting that distinction. Due to his somewhat questionable ethics and his undeniable ability as a commander, Baruch changed his name to Ari-charna Shamira, the Dark Lion Protector. Everyone, even his somewhat obstinate mother, agreed with his choice. It was at this age, too, that he married. He was somewhat young for Yisraeli tradition, but his parents and he had selected an older girl. She had reached her eighteenth year, the time when girls were traditionally married, and she was from a well-to-do family, so the dowry would be substantial. So Ari-charna married Shaynah. The next year he had a son, who he called Oz-Ari, Strength of the Lion. He began to train him to follow in Ari's footsteps as a soldier. Three years later, another war broke out. Ari-charna was called into service once more, and in the four years of the war, he reached the rank of Colonel. His tactics surprised even his allies and were instrumental in crushing the rebellion. Another period of peace set in for twenty years, in which technology improved greatly. Also during this time, Ari-charna was certified in several types of fighters and had the privilege of seeing his son join the military and marry a wealthy young lady. But the peace did not last. Once again, a rebellion arose, and father and son found themselves on opposite sides. Oz-Ari fought for the government, and in a surprising turn of events Ari-charna found himself leading the rebellion's armies. In two years they had crushed the standing government and instituted a council of rulers in its place. On this council sat Ari-charna as well as several other military commanders and several politicians. From this position, Ari was able to secure a pardon for his son and reinstitute him into the military, though many still looked on Oz-Ari as a traitor. Several years passed in this period of peace, and Ari-charna realized that he had made a mistake. The Council was not equipped to lead this government; they were divided, and none had the strength of personality required to effectively control the people. What was more, many of the politicians were padding their own pockets with the people's money, and Ari-charna was becoming outraged. It was time for a change, but he was not quite ready to be the catalyst.
