As a child, he was tutored by his parents in the culture of his people, specifically what it meant to be an Anzati. His father, Orykar, taught him about the superiority of his people, their extended life span and their prowess with the arts of stealth and combat, weaving a portrait of their civilization akin to gods among mortal beings. Solir accepted it all, believing every word because he trusted his father implicitly. His pride at being an Anzat was great and, having yet to leave his homeworld, there was no one to counter these beliefs. After reaching adulthood at the age of 100, Solir ventured out into the galaxy with his father. Orykar had spent an unusual amount of time on their homeworld, ensuring that his son received proper instruction in the ways of their people before venturing into the rest of the galaxy. Father and son began journeying from planet to planet, sampling various “soups” in order to give Solir a taste of what the Republic had to offer him. Solir was amazed at the variety of beings that could be found in the galaxy, and savored the diversity of flavors that he indulged in. Whereas he could control his thirst in order to hide his identity, his father had developed a severe superiority complex that led him to hunt for only the most delectable beings with which to gorge himself on – senators, famous composers, and the like. One night, Orykar broke into the dwelling of the prime minister of Contruum and consumed the “soup” of his wife, an award-winning novelist who was also rumored to be Force-sensitive. Unfortunately, the prime minister returned before Orykar could flee, and the Anzat was forced to slay the elderly man and his guards in order to escape. The local police force captured Orykar as he attempted to sneak away with Solir, and father and son were sentenced to lifetime imprisonment on Ord Cestus. Solir languished in the prison, blaming his father for what had happened and finding his beliefs in Anzati superiority shattered by what happened. Orykar, becoming ever desperate for the most palatable “soup”, was butchered by a gang of thugs after killing their boss, and Solir was suddenly on his own. Able to curb his appetite, Solir began feeding only on solitary victims, those who would not be missed or whose death could be hidden or disguised; he particularly went after the injured and dying in order to protect his true identity. Solir spent over forty years trapped alone in the prison until a prisoner revolt offered the chance for him to escape, whereupon he fled Ord Cestus forever aboard a freighter bound for the Outer Rim. Traveling from world to world as he had before, only now alone, Solir realized that his people were no better than anyone else in the galaxy. Having seen the obsessed creature that his father had become, and learned that it was possible to survive off of the kinds of beings that Orykar would have deemed “scrap”, he vowed only to feed on those who were already near death or those who were truly evil, never the innocent and never someone who made a substantial, beneficial contribution to the galaxy. For Solir, an Anzat’s necessary cravings should never bring adverse harm to the galaxy. Figuring that few if any of his people felt the same way, he decided never to return to his homeworld, and to avoid contact with other Anzat if possible. He eventually arrived on Garos IV, in the middle of yet another conflict between that planet and nearby Sundaris. When the local government came around asking for volunteers to fight off-planet, Solir threw his lot in with them, figuring that armed combat could be his next distraction. He had been trained in several close combat styles by his father, and had previous experience with blasters and blaster rifles, skills that were only improved upon in his time with the Garosians. He found that he enjoyed the thrill of combat, and that a battlefield offered him the injured and dying that he needed to satiate his natural thirst. Peace was declared between Garos IV and Sundaris three years after Solir enlisted, and he was allowed to go free. He went back to roaming once again, but often chose to join up with military or paramilitary units when the opportunity arose. He participated in the Second Galactic Games in a shooting event, and was later part of a mercenary company hired to assist Viszla’s Death Watch during the Mandalorian Civil War. He opted to fight on the side of the Republic during the Stark Hyperspace War and was present at three of the five decisive battles around Troiken. When the Clone Wars began, Solir was part of a mercenary company known as the Neks of Bulgroon, which had just finished work in Hutt Space and was looking for more. The commander of the Neks, a brutish Rodian named Krodo, sold his company’s talents to the Confederacy shortly after the Battle of Geonosis. Solir went along willingly, having noticed the gradual decay of the Republic over the past centuries and feeling that he was on the more beneficial side. The Neks were involved in capturing Bespin and Ossus, where Solir fought against Jedi for the first time in his life. After proving his stamina and ability to Krodo – a fact that Solir always found amusing considering his age and experience compared to the Rodian – Solir was given a cortosis blade, which would come in handy whenever they engaged the Republic. Only once did he encounter a Jedi Knight one-on-one, and through almost three centuries of experience was he able to defeat his opponent. Solir also developed a grudging respect for Krodo who, despite his brutal tactics on the battlefield, was also a capable commander. The man knew how to lead his people, how to inspire their resolve and their courage in the face of death itself, and how to effectively manage a group of people whose greatest asset was their ability to kill people. It was at this point that Solir began to consider forming his own mercenary company, instead of joining others and following their commands. He had already spent most of his existence living among other beings, keeping his Anzati identity hidden, and he figured that doing so would be easier as a commander, where the only person he would have to answer to would be himself. The Neks were ultimately annihilated in the Battle of Coruscant. Their assault ship was crippled by clone starfighters and almost everyone aboard was killed, including Krodo. Despite a grievous injury to his abdomen, Solir narrowly made it to an escape pod, landing on Coruscant amidst a flurry of rubble from the ships in orbit. He immediately disappeared among the planet’s monstrous cities, finding a local hospital to recover until he could flee the planet. Solir spent most of the next several years in hiding, unsure if the new Galactic Empire would be seeking out agents of the destroyed Confederacy. Only when it was clear that he was safe did he emerge and set about forming his own mercenary company. Due to the fact that they are exceptionally long-lived, Anzat have an impressive amount of patience; Solir, despite his love for fast-paced combat, was no exception to the rule when it came to finally forming his own group of mercenaries. The first incarnation of Marakis’ Legionnaires did not emerge as a known faction until the end of the Galactic Civil War. Solir found that he was a capable commander and amassed notoriety in the Outer Rim for his skills and those of his soldiers. Members in the group faded in and out over the course of years, making it easy for Solir to maintain the illusion that he was anything other than an Anzati. The Legionnaires were hired by the New Republic for the retaking of Coruscant from the Sith, but were virtually wiped out in the effort, forcing Solir to begin from scratch again. Having learned from his previous endeavors, though, he began an even more impressive incarnation of his mercenary company. After seeing the Neks and then his own people decimated, however, Solir also realized that it was the fate of every mercenary group to face eventual destruction on the battlefield, a fact that always looms in the back of his mind. Solir’s new Legionnaires had just been created when the Praetorite Vong attacked Capricia for the second time. The mercenaries were caught in the same sector and proved their worth as a team defeating any invaders that came at them. Solir’s friendship with his new second-in-command, Runo Ganetta, was forged amidst the explosions of coralskippers, a friendship that lasts to this day. As a commander, Solir found that he was forming closer bonds than when he was just one soldier among many, something that his people would most likely never have accepted. Keeping his identity a secret continues to put his comrades at something of a remove, and the fear that someone will discover what he truly is remains ever present. Nevertheless, Solir has found the role of commander to be one that he enjoys more than anything else he has done in his three centuries of life. In the years after Capricia, the Legionnaires’ reputation began to grow again as they took more jobs against the various new factions claiming power in the galaxy. Many of these missions were carried out against the New Order, especially after its retaking of Coruscant; Solir, having seen how the first Empire took care of the galaxy after the fall of the Republic, could not trust the government to behave differently the second time around. Despite his dislike for the New Order, Solir tries to keep his mercenaries out of direct alignment with any political entity. Being hired and paid by someone is one thing, but signing up officially is quite another. Having seen the destruction of two groups of mercenaries in politically-fueled conflicts, Solir is hesitant to become involved for any length of time, but is not afraid to do so if the money or the opportunity for a challenging fight is high. For the most part, mercenary work remains an opportunity to satisfy his cravings for “soup” and challenge his skills as a soldier. The Legionnaires Runo Ganetta Species: Human Gender: Male Homeworld: Naboo Defining Characteristics: - Long, graying hair that is starting to fade on the top of his head - Consistent stubble - Rounded shoulders and a solid, somewhat stout frame Possessions: - Chest blast armor - Gungan cesta and energy balls - Personal medical kit - Two SoroSuub Security S-5 blaster pistols - Runo was born to a family of fishermen living in a small village near the capital city of Theed. He was just a small boy when the Empire sent troops to his homeworld to bring the planet into line following the brief uprising by Queen Apailana and Boss Nass. Stormtroopers attacked the settlements near the capital and slaughtered groups of civilians as a show of force; most of Runo’s friends and family were among the victims. Runo joined the Royal Naboo Security Forces, only to strike out later on his own, plying his trade as a mercenary. He joined Solir’s reformation of the Legionnaires and has become the Anzat’s closest friend and companion, though even he doesn’t know the man’s true origins. Brel Nayigon Species: Chev Gender: Female Homeworld: Vinsoth Defining Characteristics: - Athletic build - Dark hair tied in two braids hanging past her shoulders - Tattoos on her upper cranium; markings of both slavery and freedom in Chev Possessions: - Disruptor carbine - Wood pendant, inscribed by her brother - T-21 long-range blaster rifle, with scope - Like many Chev, the Nayigon family was enslaved by the Chevin; in their case, to a traveling entertainer who dragged them across the Outer Rim. Since she possessed no performance-worthy talents, Brel was put to work in the background while other members of his family were thrown onstage. One of her cousins was an expert marksman with his own act, and he spent some of his free time teaching her basic marksmanship and a few extra tricks with a rifle and carbine. When their owner went bankrupt, he sold the Nayigons in pieces, sending Brel to the Circus Horrificus, where she used what she had learned to earn her own act among the performers. It was during one of these performances that she first impressed Solir with her abilities, and he went straight from the audience and had her freed to join his reincarnation of the Legionnaires. Forwl Species: Yuzzem Gender: Male Homeworld: Ragna III Defining Characteristics: - Bristly auburn fur, with a long patch of white across the right shoulder - Two fangs missing from the left side of his jaw Possessions: - Bandoleer made of rancor hide, carrying spare ammo and explosives - Heavy blaster rifle - Long vibro-ax - When the Empire conquered and enslaved the people of Ragna III, Forwl was merely a youngling in the litter of his brothers and sisters, without anything but a basic understanding of what was going on. Once he reached maturity, however, his anger toward the Imperials grew and was only properly satiated upon achieving his freedom in one of many brutal slave revolts. Forwl has spent the time since then offering his services to anyone he deems worthy of his warrior’s prowess, gravitating toward groups or individuals that share his dislike for the present New Order. The subjugation he endured as a youth makes it difficult for the Yuzzem to trust other beings, specifically humans. When Solir nobly saved his life from an entire squad of opponents during the New Order’s siege of the Onyxian Commonwealth, Forwl knew that he had found a human that he could trust, and has served as a faithful Legionnaire since that day. LE-M2554K (“Lee”) Species: LE Series Repair Droid Defining Characteristics: - Red and black plating, with glowing orange photoreceptors Possessions: - Advanced sensor suite (infrared, ultraviolet, x-ray) - Heavy armor plating - Heuristic processor - Holorecording unit - Internal comlink - Personal repair kit and diagnostic tools - Sonic wave generator - Storage in hips for ammo and small explosives, such as grenades - Translation unit - Wrist-mounted pulse blaster (left) and small projectile launcher (right) - The droid nicknamed Lee was the first addition to Solir’s new incarnation of the Legionnaires. It had been previously modified to serve as part of a security detachment for a Hutt crime lord on Nar Shaddaa, only to be sold by junk dealers after his owner’s clan was destroyed for refusing to join the Diversity Alliance. Solir took an immediate liking to the droid’s abrupt honesty, an apparent flutter after years of memory wipes by his former master. He grafted additional equipment to make Lee a formidable mercenary, but was forced to include special programming preventing the droid from revealing his new master’s true identity, when Solir realized that Lee’s advanced sensors could detect his Anzati heritage. Lee remains the only member of the Legionnaires to be aware of what Solir is, but cannot speak a word of it to anyone. Trann Kar’vegos Species: Balosar Gender: Male Homeworld: Nar Shaddaa Defining Characteristics: - Short, gawky and a little gangly - Thin scars on the left side of his face from explosive shrapnel - Always wears stained worker’s overalls Possessions: - Wide assortment of mechanic’s tools - Worn vibroblade - Trann was born into the slums of Nar Shaddaa, to parents who were both petty criminals. He was forced to help them with their endeavors and was beaten whenever he refused to do so. When a fire tore through his family’s housing district, he was injured by some exploding canisters and left by his parents when they moved on. After he recovered, Trann left Nar Shaddaa and began plying his trade as a mechanic, having always found peace working with machines, the only peace from his intense, secretive depression at his lot in life. Even after being picked up by Sovir’s crew on Tatooine a year before the Cataclysm, his inner mood has yet to change. Cartan: Ex-starfighter pilot in the Smuggler’s Alliance, now the pilot of the Nek’s Tooth (male Ryn) Eleddol: A daredevil and former swoop racer, who now finds his excitement in the mercenary trade (male Krish) Herret Myyl: Professional soldier, with the minor gift of precognition (male Iktotchi) Kuwa’aven: The young pilot of the Spinning Dagger (female Twi’lek from Ryloth) Pwar Dev: A soldier from Mon Calamari who joined after learning of Solir’s exploits in the defense of his world (male Quarren) R3-T7: A repair droid modified with faster processors, better tools, and a top-mounted pulse blaster Renneth Garec: Professional scout from the Outer Rim; copilot of the Spinning Dagger (male human) Soshiomn: An ex-slave to the Hutts, picked up on Tatooine with Trann (male Kajain’sa’Nikto) Zempin Bool: The hulking, elderly doctor aboard the Spinning Dagger (male Herglic from Giju) The Legionnaire’s Transports The Spinning Dagger The first ship bought by Solir when he reformed the Legionnaires, and the only one for several years, is a heavily modified Suwantek TL-1200 transport. In addition to the two standard laser cannon gunwells on the bow, it also boasts two additional energy cannons and a concussion missile launcher on its nose, a top-mounted ion cannon turret, tractor beam projectors, and an additional gunwell mounted on the dorsal hull at the rear. Its shields and hull plating have been heavily upgraded, and the medical bay has been expanded to include the storage bay in the center of the ship, allowing for an additional two bacta tanks. The impulse and hyperdrive engines have also been upgraded, granting the Dagger surprising speed in a conflict. Its port cargo bay contains the armory racks, which store an assortment of blaster pistols, rifles, and carbines, vibroblades, explosives, and ammunition, as well as the Legionnaire’s food and medical supplies. The starboard cargo bay holds two Mobquet swoop bikes outfitted with twin energy cannons. The ]I]Nek’s Tooth The new Legionnaires acquired this Firespray-31 at a Kuat Drive Yards auction three years into their tenure, and it has become an invaluable member of the company. Unlike the Spinning Dagger, the Tooth has seen far less modification, having only been given upgrades to its blaster cannons, armor plating and shields. Its firepower is used either to supplement that of the Dagger or for missions that require a quick entry into a contested area. During transit, only one or two mercenaries remain on the Tooth, while the rest remain in their primary quarters aboard the Dagger.

I like it. A lot.

Though the Spinning Dagger sounds like the Suwantek out of Allegiance.

That's acceptable, by the way.

Very nice job.

So when can the Empire hire you?

Very impressive. I think you'll do fine here.

I actually got the design of the ship from "Tempest Feud", one of the books for the old SW Roleplaying game - but yeah, the Suwantek from Allegiance is quite similar. Oh well.

But thanks! And we might be able to do business with the Empire, if the money's good....
