Description: Christem is a rather unremarkable looking man. He is clean shaven and maintains a neat appearance. His hair is always combed, his uniform always pressed and without wrinkles. Christem is never seen out of his uniform. Christem is of average build and in good health, slightly above average physical condition for a man his age.

History: Christem was born on Coruscant, but never knew his parents. He was left at a medical center shortly after being born. He became a ward of the state and was brought up in the Imperial system. With no family, Christem became strongly attached to the Empire, never doubting its righteousness. As soon as he was old enough he enrolled in the Imperial Academy.

His time at the Academy was concurrent with the height of the Rebellion and the defeat at Endor. Christem was horrified to see his beloved Empire crumbling and conducted extensive research on the Rebel victories over the Empire. The more he analyzed the data, the more he became convinced that the Rebels victories were not do to luck or merely incompetence and some of his instructors insisted, but due in large part to the vastly superior starfighters that the Rebels possessed. The higher firepower meant that they could possibly inflict damage on even capital ships. The relatively sturdy shields of the Rebel fighters also vastly increased the survivability of the fighters, allowing the pilots to gain more experience and skill than the majority of their Imperial counterparts. The formation of the famed ‘Rogue Squadron’ is a perfect example of this. Christem greatly supported the construction of new fighters similar to the Rebellion’s.

Christem’s theories drew the ire of his instructors and superiors. To suggest that the Rebels were anything more than lucky and were in fact superior to the Empire in any area was blasphemy. The prevailing theory in the Imperial Navy was that of ‘big guns,’ such as the Death Star projects and the Super Star Destroyers. Christem’s views were a radical departure, placing a greater emphasis on small ship combat, although not ignoring the massive warships. This and his continued focus on Rebel victories over the Empire in his studies lead him to be blackballed to an extent. It was only when Grand Admiral Thrawn took over the remnants of the Empire that Christem’s views gained some support and he graduated from the Academy.

Christem was still blackballed in the navy, and thus had to work his way up from the near bottom. He has served as an officer on freighters, troop transports, fleet tenders and remote outposts. The fact that he rose through the ranks at all was a testament to his skill and leadership abilities. Slowly those who held a grudge against him died in combat, still clinging to their outmoded tactics. Christem ended up in the new order and began steadily climbing out of the hole that his career had been thrust in. He gained low ranking assignments on actual warships. His respect for the men serving under him and his concern for their lives, particularly of the fighter pilots, won him a great amount of respect in the lower ranks. He even took the time to learn how to pilot the TIE Defender, a ship that he saw as a vindication of his beliefs. He has recently achieved the rank of captain of his own warship in TNO.

Christem is quite and amiable and friendly man, especially for someone of his rank, but he does expect total loyalty and obedience from his men. In return he offers his own loyalty to them and a guarantee that he will look out for them as best he can while serving TNO. He is a skilled commander, particularly in using starfighters, but he is no slouch in capital ship combat. His fighter pilots are often among the best trained and reliable in the fleet, due to his own skill and demanding training he puts them through. He is highly skilled at using fighters and bombers in coordination with his capital ship to defeat more powerful vessels.
