At Onderon Tech, he played as Second-String Quarterback and starting Y-Reciever on the college team. During the last game of his senior year, he played starting quarterback becuase the regular player was injured and led the team to a league victory.

He then went on to play professional for one year as a third string Quarterback and starting Y-Reciever for the Arkanian Dragonheads until he was approched by a strange man who offered him the privilage to be a Dragon Rider, a member a a legendary order of elite warriors who rode throguh space and land with their partners, the powerful space-faring Dragons such as the Ejderha Dragons.

He agreed and was taken to a secret world to join the ranks of the order, and was chosen by the most unlikely of the dragon eggs there. The Ejderha was not only intellegent as all of them were, she was Force-Sensitive. While All Ejderha dragons were able to feel the Force, they could only use it to heal minor wounds, put somethign into a trance to heal major wounds, and grant longevity. But Jesslin, Mark's dragon partner, could actually use the Force in more ways than the others.

He know travels through the stars as a warrior searching for people to save...

Interesting hook there with the Space Dragons. Is that cannon, or your own idea?
Author: Brant_Flir. Posted At: 01/13/2006 at 07:10 PM
Space Dragon is canon... I think. I'm pretty sure its WotC. Is that considered canon for this?

The Dragon Riders is my own idea.

Wizards material is generally accepted. We don't get a lot of people using it though, so most people tend to be unfamiliar with it.
Author: Brant_Flir. Posted At: 01/13/2006 at 07:19 PM
Cool. I like using it becuase usually it has pictures, and that let's me describe stuff better than somethign that was only written in a novel.
Author: Beff Pike. Posted At: 01/13/2006 at 09:32 PM
Duinugowuin are 10m creatures (on average) that can grow upto 100m. This is not a Wizards of the Coast creation but rather a creature featured in two comicbook runs (one of which was Marvel....so) that was in turn adapted from West End Games D6 StarWars Tabletop RPG.

However:

Star Dragons are not pets. They are fully sentient creatures that have lifespans measured in centuries. It is highly unlikely that true Duinuogwuin would reduce themselves to being mere mounts for human partners... I don't doubt it can happen, as it has, but not with such frequency that a whole group could be formed. I suggest doing a little more research before using these aliens as the basis for you Dragon Riders. Perhaps a smaller cousin, a less intelligent cousin... something like that.

Just a thought.

Good work and good luck.

EDIT:

A few quotes from WEG's Alien Anthology...

"A curious aspect of Star Dragon behavious is their self-imposed isolation from their own species. Although Star Dragons are gregariois who enjoy interacting with other species, they mae a point of never living within a sector occupied by another dragon."

And for the lesser-dragon suggestion...

"When two Star Dragons mate the chance is great that the offspring will be non-intellegent. Such creatures become the raving monsters that their parents are, by moral sense, obligated to destroy."

"There are few Duinuogwuin in existance, so, though they can exist in all parts of the galaxy, it is rare that they are observed."
Author: Brant_Flir. Posted At: 01/13/2006 at 09:36 PM
I guess, but that was my point. It isn't a pet. They are partners. That is why it is so unlikely that a Duinugowuin would have chosen him as a partner. What about Dragons in mythology? Those are sentinent beigns and yet they allow humans to ride them. But i guess i see what you mean. Hmmmm.

I'm not trying to attack your idea, however; if you want to use a pre-existing theme (which has been touched upon before at TRF) you'll likely end up being forced to abide by at least some of the conventions created by previous authors (including but not limited to; the authors authroized by Lucasarts etc).

That's all.
Author: Beff Pike. Posted At: 01/13/2006 at 09:41 PM
And coming from a background carved from the Anzati and the Mandalorians, I have a fairly good comprehension of accepted terms. And whatnot.
Author: Brant_Flir. Posted At: 01/13/2006 at 09:41 PM
Oh, i see what you mean. I'll work on it.
Author: Brant_Flir. Posted At: 01/13/2006 at 09:58 PM
How about this:

The Dragon Riders

The Dragon Riders are a group of men and woman of all species who are chosen by the Riders' Council to enter a holy partnership with a Dragon. While Some Riders are chosen only by non-sapient dragons such as the Krayt Dragon and the Winged Beasts of Onderon. But others are chosen by a more powerful species of dragon: The Ejderha, Lord of Dragons.

These Rdiers form a close-knit partnership and friendship with each other and travel the Galaxy to vanquish those who stand in the way of the Dragon Riders' view of "GOOD".

The Riders' Council

The Riders' Council is made up of Ancient Riders, gifted with longevity from their Dragon allies, and newly knighted Dragon Lords (Both Dragon and other sapients).

With this wise group of 15 members, the Dragon Riders seek order for the Galaxy.

Rider

Any Human or Alien who is gifted with the partnership of a dragon is called a Rider. There are many kinds of Riders.
---Dragon Keeper (A Rider who is partnered with oen of the Lesser Dragon species.
---Lesser Dragon (Non-sapient Dragons)
---Greater Dragon (Ejderha)
---Dragon Rider Trainiee (A Rider who is blessed with a Ejderha)
---Dragon Rider (The standard Rider, a trained member of the Dragon Riders.
---Dragon Knight (A Rider who has proven himself in battle and is allowed to train fellow Riders.
---Dragon Lord (A Rider who has been blessed with longevity by his Dragon Partner, or a Dragon who has given his partner longevity and may be voted itno the Council)

*Ejderha can live in the vacuum of space for a long amount of time.

Does this sound good? Mark could have a Ejderha.

The idea has merit, but you've got a problem in that the natural predatory nature of those beasts would cause conflict. Intelligent Star Dragons would be moral-bound to kill the savage creatures. The savage creatures, for their part, would likely turn on one another (species) and... well...

My suggestion:

Keep the idea, it rocks. Create a new species of "Dragon" or mutate one of the current species. Make it your own and thus; your creative freedom.

Welcome ladies and gentleman to Dragonlance, Star Wars Edition.

But anyway, I feel the 'longevity' thing is a bit odd. If it's true, I could see the BDE and the Imperials working on forcing the Dragons to grant them long life.
Author: Marth Meer. Posted At: 01/13/2006 at 10:30 PM
Theres no rules against inventing species, planets or anything. So I'd suggest that as Beff suggested you invent your own species for two reasons:

A) As beff said there may be a conflict with past RPs etc.

B)You can make them in any way up to your hearts content.
Author: Brant_Flir. Posted At: 01/13/2006 at 10:39 PM
Sounds Cool. I'll get to work on that. Thanks everyone!

:)

So you noticed?
Author: Mark Antilles. Posted At: 01/13/2006 at 11:32 PM
Alright, the Ejderha is my dragon race. Is this okay?
Author: Beff Pike. Posted At: 01/13/2006 at 11:36 PM
You need not ask/worry. In the end the final choice is yours and pretty much whatever you choose is okay. You can even ignore all the suggestions made above and do whatever you want... that's the beauty. We're just offering suggestions to help (in our eyes) ease the creation of what could become a nifty little faction idea.

But yeah, s'all good.
Author: Brant_Flir. Posted At: 01/13/2006 at 11:37 PM
And i've updated the above information on the Dragon Riders to go with the Ejderha.
Author: Beff Pike. Posted At: 01/13/2006 at 11:43 PM
Cool. Now, someone with more Force-cred can comment on that "minor" ability to heal wounds and grant longevity.

Also, if you're gonna make yer Dragon thingy central to your characters development you might wanna invest some time, in your writing, to create a zoological background on your dragons.
Author: Brant_Flir. Posted At: 01/13/2006 at 11:45 PM
Yeah, i'm working on that now.

Who should i contact about the Force stuff?
Author: Beff Pike. Posted At: 01/13/2006 at 11:51 PM
Dunno. Whoever it is that gives a crap will say something in this thread... otherwise you might as well consider yourself a go. Not that I can formally authorize that, but yeah...
Author: Irtar Rashanagok. Posted At: 01/14/2006 at 12:01 AM
I've already made my comment on the longevity. As for the healing that seems odd. But there's been many odd creatures in Star Wars with odd ties to the Force. As long as it doesn't overpower or anything.
Author: Brant_Flir. Posted At: 01/14/2006 at 12:09 AM
No, of course not. In fact, its not neccesarily full healing. It justy will close a cut and stop the bleeding and help the healign proccess along, but it won't automaticly have the near-death character to prime fighting condition in a second,. it takes hours to do properly and even then the user still gets a scar and pain.

So, if this below information, the character information, and the Dragon Rider informations is okay with everyone, then i guess i can start writing an Rp?

Species Name: Ejderha
Scientific Name: Draco Ejderhadicusapian
Average Height: 7 Meters
Average Wingspan: 24 meters
Average Age of Death: 800 Galactic Standard Years
Physical Descriptions: This Dragon species is an extremely intelligent reptilian race. They vary in color from white to black and every color in between. They have long tails with a deadly looking curved blade at the end.

Three rows of razor-sharp teeth with leaf-crushers in the back and then a small group of sharp flint-like teeth lined the mouth. A long, forked reptilian tongue could reach out a foot from the mouth.

It has two legs and two hands, but the hands can act as legs if it has to run fast. On the knees and elbows there are razor-sharp bone-like blades as well as on the tip of the wings. Its clawed hands & feet, along with the ridge of spikes along the back of the Dragon on in a crest on its head make it a very venerable fighter.

As if that wasn’t enough, the Dragons have one more weapon. Super-heated breath. The fire that it spits is as powerful as a heavy laser cannon, but has an extra heat wave effect. The gas, which is created from its food, is stored in special organs inside the beast. When the Dragon wishes to use this fire-gas, it shoots it to its mouth, where the flint-like teeth create sparks and ignite the gas. This attack can only be used a few times before the dragon must get mroe of this gas which takes time to make.

Perhaps the most amazing feature of this species is their ability to survive in the vacuum for days at a time, and can enter Hyperspace! This is because of their strange affiliation to the Force. Beside this, they can heal minor wounds, put people into trances to heal major wounds, and can even, if they become experienced enough, grant someone longevity!

The Dragon can communicate telopathically with the Rider, anf through him, the rest of the galaxy.

This has made them a prime target for the rich and powerful searches, even though they are regarded as myths and legends. It is even rumored that the Galactic Empire has an entire task force with the goal to find an Ejderha and get the Empire longevity. These rumors are unsubstantial and unverified.

They live in an unknown world in the Unknown Regions. It is a highly undeveloped world, and the best form of energy is water wheels, and castles and knights are still the prime fortresses and soldiers. This is rumored to be the base of the Dragon Riders, but again, these rumors are unsubstantial and unverified.

I don't think anybodys going to seriously object. But if you are looking for somebody to coment on the force thing I'd try Ahnk.

I object. You're banned.

Done? Done. Back to drinking.

Seriously?

(This is Brant/Mark by the way)
Author: Master Ahnk. Posted At: 01/14/2006 at 03:00 AM
Yes, I will be drinking seriously. Don't worry, I have the stomach for it.
Author: Beff Pike. Posted At: 01/14/2006 at 03:00 AM
No.
Author: Master Ahnk. Posted At: 01/14/2006 at 03:02 AM
Beffo, can I talk to you over the IM for a second?
Author: Titus. Posted At: 01/14/2006 at 05:20 AM
He's not being serious. If he was, you wouldn't be able to see anything but a little warning saying that you've been banned.

Have fun with your idea.
