Orphaned at age eleven, Jesh Tolli met up with Kach Thorton on the harsh streets of the planet Triffis. They began to stick together after encountering each other several times, and soon became best friends in a friendship that would span a decade and a half.

They met up when Jesh was 13 and Kach 14, and immediately decided that Triffis had no part in their future. They decided to blast off the planet as soon as they could. That opportunity, however, didn't come for another two years, until they had both completed basic flying lessons. In a half-planned ship theft, they stole a late model Delta-class Shuttle that belonged to the a New Republic diplomat making a visit, as well as an E-wing fighter that Kach stole as a diversion, and to add insult to injury, destroyed the other three E-wings that pursued them.

For the next year or two they ran guns and spices or pretty much anything else for anyone who would pay, occasionally upgrading the Delta they stole, now named the Stormhawk, whenever they could afford or stole something to upgrade her with.

Life was good for them.

Then it got nasty.

One day they had stopped at a hidden smuggler base in the Vergosso asteroid field, asteroid 73c, when Black Sun attacked the base to test for their new Vendetta Battlecruisers. Dozens of smugglers and other sorts of scum died in the attack, but a brave few, including Kach and Jesh, attacked and disabled one of the Vendettas, allowing the others to escape.

The survivors, enraged, banded together and launched a three pronged attack on the Black Sun palace and Skyhook on/over Coruscant, and succeeded in destroying both.

The remaining smugglers retreated to Asteroid Q, hidden in a nebula near the Bandomeer system, and did as smugglers did; they celebrated, hard.

Unfortunately, the Hutts, angered by the loss of profits the attack on Black Sun would cause in the long term, decided to get back at them, and decimated the base in revenge.

But there was something the Hutts didn't count on: A sense of unity in the smugglers. They had just struck a crippling blow to one of the galaxy's major underworld kingpins, and they were in high spirits. They weren't going to take this shit. They were going to get even.

They planned their revenge four months from that date.

In the meantime, smugglers crossed the galaxy, gathering up comrades and friends. Meanwhile, a group led by Kach and Jesh headed to the corporate sector to steal a small fleets worth of Victory Star Destroyers and Marauder Corvettes.

And then they got their revenge. To start it off, they attacked Nal Hutta itself, bombarding it from orbit until the Hutts managed to bring a sizable fleet over to try to dislodge them. But instead of fighting, they fled.

The Hutts, like the smugglers, were in a vengeful mood (but of course, they always are), and what was a simple act of revenge turned into a fourteen month long war between the united smugglers and the Hutts and any smaller criminal organisations they could boss to fight for them.

In the end, it turned into a bloody stalemate, that only resolved itself when the Black Market Kingpins and Smugglers realized they couldn't survive without the other. Reluctantly, a truth was hammered out between them, and life moved on.

The years after were great for the surviving smugglers- with so many dead and so much business to go around all the veterans were good at what they did and new smugglers, who got into the trade for the same reasons they did and the massive post-war profits, had to build up their resume first. It was a booming era for them.

And then the Yuuzhan vong struck.

For a while they just did what they'd always done, steering clear of the occupied areas, of course, but eventually they were dragged in- as soon as the government began giving out profiteering licenses. Lured by the scent of profit, something a smuggler can smell from across the galaxy, they began picking up these licenses as fast as they could be printed out.

Preying on Vong and Peace Brigades vessels, they turned a handsome profit, since they were paid by the kill as well as having the right to whatever they destroy, cargo and all.

But eventually the Vong were forced back, and they were forced back to their old way of life.

But for some the transition back to smuggling didn't go so well, and they continued pirating. This started another war, this one between the restored smugglers and pirate fleets, whether ex-smuggler or not.

This outcome for this war was inevitable, the reunited smuggler coalition, made up from the higher ranking members from the Hutt war who had received chunks of the Hutt war navy after the truce was hammered out, reassembled their fleet and smashed pirate fleets across the galaxy.

For many in the smuggling community, this was the last straw. The war, combined with the falling prices since smugglers that had got into the business during the post-Hutt war boom-era were becoming experienced and stealing business from more experienced smugglers, was making the business harder and harder to stay in.

They decided to do something they'd done a long time ago. They decided to Unite.

A meeting was held of the more important smuggler kingpins, including Talon Karrde, Kach Thorton, Booster Terrik, and others. And in the end they decided to do as they'd come to do, to form a union of smugglers, now called The Smuggers Alliance, with Kach Thorton at it's head.

There was just one thing, Kach though his destiny was elsewhere.

Leaving the Alliance with a promise to return to the head position if he ever returned, he headed to who knows where to do soul searching and find his place in the universe.

Jesh Tolli, however, felt his place was right there, next to his smuggler comrades.

When Jesh and Kach parted company so his friend could go on his search for his place in the galaxy, he took the Stormhawk with him at Jesh's insistence, since he knew just how much she meant to Kach.

Unfortuantely, this left him in an awkward position- head of a major underworld faction without his own ship. The fact that it was a faction of smugglers, who were naturally critical on the topic of their leaders vessel, only made it worse. But fortunally, Jesh had a few ideas.

Starting with a good sized fortune obtained when he, Kach and a group of other risk takers with more want of money than sense had journeyed to the bottommost levels of Nar Shadda in search of treasure (RP pending, turns out they found a spice smuggling operation, which they robbed dry) and a sleek, black Svelte-class shuttle, Jesh began ordering parts from less-than-legal vendors across the galaxy and fitting them to his ship, stripped to pieces in a hanger at the Smuggler Alliances new Infinity base in the Maw.

It took several months and cost a small fortune, but in the end, Jesh had built himself the ultimate smuggling vessel, and easily one of the most formidable ships in the galaxy.

Engines Jesh chose to completely overhaul the engines, upgrading them to take more power and provide more thrust. Thoroughly rebuilt, the engines can now propel the Shockwave at 100 MGLT, faster than an X-wing fighter. And thanks to a less conservative power distributor for the fusion reactors, it actually has better acceleration, 25 MGLT per second, giving it the maneuverability of a TIE Fighter.

With the maneuverability of a TIE from the main engines alone, there was no need to keep the extend able strike foils. Jesh chose to remove them, filling the now-empty space in the ship with generators and fuel tanks.

In addition to the ships complete drive overhaul, Jesh made an addition to its propulsion systems- a pair of supercooled chemical thrust baffled drives that don't leave drive trails like regular drives, perfect for the ship because of the cloaking and stealth hardware added onto it.

Weaponry The first thing Jesh did after he obtained the Svelte was to remove its completely inadequate weaponry of two blaster cannons and two lasers. For the kind of work this ship was planned for, that was just totally inadequate.

He then purchased four Quad laser cannons (of the same model mounted on lancer frigates), four Proton Torpedo launchers, two Concussion Missile launchers, and two Ion cannons.

Such a large amount of armament is illegal in every sector of space in the galaxy, and so it couldn't all be mounted outside the ship where a blind sensor operator could find it. So Jesh mounted the Concussion missile launchers and Ion cannons in the space the old weaponry used to occupy, and set to tearing a good deal of his new ship apart.

In the end, Jesh got exactly what he had hoped for. The Quad lasers are mounted about two thirds of the way back on the ship, with one on each "quadrant" of the hull. When not in use, they retract inside of the hull and are covered by a panel coated with a special material made just for blocking weapon detection equipment. The Proton Torpedo Launchers are mounted on top of the Quad Lasers, so they face whatever direction they are facing and retract as well.

When extended, the Quad Lasers and the attached Torpedo Launchers are synchronized to aim wherever the pilot is looking- and amazing edge when in combat, since the guns can aim anywhere the pilot can look. Between them, at least two guns can cover every angle around the craft except straight back.

Stealth Hardware The most important of Jesh's "few ideas" he had when building the Shockwave was to install stealth hardware to make the ship impossible to locate. This hardware consists of a sensor masking and jamming system- a highly classified imperial system stolen in a convoy raid-, a transparent layer of sensor baffling material over the ships gloss black paint job, the chemical drive previously mentioned, a highly illegal, super sensitive sensor suit that can detect a patrol ship from a light year away (custom built by hooking a holonet transmitter to a sensor dish), and a cloaking shield, whose origins Jesh won't spill.

Shields The Shockwave mounts a custom built Pulse shielding system, the first to ever see the outside of a laboratory. It works on the same principals as explosive reactive armor and anti-missile Fleche launchers but put together.

The shields are almost always off, however, when one of the crafts five sensor systems detect an incoming threat-missile, turbolaser bolt, or whatever-, it sends a pulse of shield energy on an intercept course with it. With turbolaser bolts, it is of the same wavelength and the two cause each other to cancel out. If a missile, the energy causes it to detonate well away from the craft, and forces the explosion and any shrapnel released by it away as well.

It is also effective against Ion Cannons, Particle Beams, and massive electrical shocks.

Since it's only active part of the time- only the occasional millisecond- the rest of the time the energy sent to it is sent to a battery bank, allowing a terrific store of energy to be built up for a high threat environment or a single large threat (Once, while fleeing an Imperial patrol, it stopped a Heavy Turbo laser bolt from a Star Destroyers main guns).

Power Power for the Shockwave comes from a pair of heavy grade fusion reactors and four light generators that utilize waste heat from the engines (1 allotted to each quad laser, which technically makes them turbo lasers).
