Biography: Early Years: Corise Lucerne was born in Solace, Kashan to Matthew and Corinne Lucerne. Because of his father’s position as founder and CEO of Kashan Defence Industries, he was frequently exposed to hearing and talking about the technology and the Kashan Army and Starfighter Corps. While his father, a native of Alderaan, frequently talked on Alderaanian morals, philosophy, and diplomacy. His mother, from Kuat, often told the exploits of her family’s navy officers, who served in the Kuat’s corporate and defence fleets as well as the Old Republic’s navy. During his childhood years, he often visited KDI plants and facilities, which combined with Kashan’s militaristic culture, only further polarized the teen to the martial viewpoint and life style. Based on this, he was able to persuade his parents to provide him with texts on war and enlisted several veterans of the Clone Wars to act as tutors for him. As with most Kashan eighteen year olds, he went into the Kashan Defence Academy, which trained all Kashan military officers, albeit particularly marines, engineers, or starfighter pilots. However, Corise wished to combine both family traditions together, and thus chose to join the naval officer program. The actual navy section was the smallest group of officers trained, because of the relatively few vessels at the time, and as such, was the most hardest and most prestigious to get into. This particularly true because the first Seraphs had been introduced and had been instrumental in defeating the invading pirates. Corise had a distinct advantage in the class because of his previous studies, which often allowed him to beat opponents in simulations based on tactics and ideas taught to him by his tutors and texts. During spring break of his sophomore year, his father challenged Corise to one of the training simulations. The catch was that his father was equipped with newer Kashan vessels while he was equipped with more antiquated Imperial designs. While the simulation ended up being a draw, it taught the man the advantage of technological advantage and the possible advantages that could be made by using existing technologies in unorthodox ways. At the end of his senior year, Corise left Kashan and went to work for CEC as a Corporate fleet officer. His service in CEC was rather indistinguishable due to the fleet’s inherent nature and his position. Seeing only minor skirmishes against Corellian pirates and smugglers. He returned to Kashan and took up a post as the captain of the Seraph-class Cruiser Steadfast. As of yet, there was no central command position for the Navy. A naval simulator contest was launched among the captains and execuative officers that crewed the Seraphs for overall command of the fleet. The younger Lucerne was able to win the simulation by allying himself with Captain Fyre, his future XO. Together, the two officers turned and destroyed the opposing vessels within the simulation before finally facing off against each other. Corise was able to win the simulation by using his ship’s tractor beams to hurl pieces of the already destroyed Seraphs into Fyre’s ship. As such, he was relieved of his post as the Steadfast’s captain and appointed as the Commodore of the Kashan Fleet. The next years he spent in the fleet was training and building the fleet’s strength, both materialistically and politically. Using his clout with KDI and the fleet, he was able to receive better funding and authority for the Kashan fleet, and with several political alliances, he was able to establish that all Kashan forces, regardless of branch, assigned to Kashan vessels fell under the Navy’s jurisdiction. Eventually, this turned into an informal chain of command in which the Navy became the most powerful force, virtually turning the position of the Commodore into being that of the Supreme Commander of the Kashan Defence Forces. Eventually, Kashan Military Intelligence determined that the Black Dragon Empire would likely be expanding nearby the planet, and if Kashan would be discovered, it would be attacked. Based on the information gathered, they decided that it would be impossible to defend the planet from the expansionist empire. As such, the Commodore and Pro-Consul Thorn jointly advocated their planet joining the New Galactic Coalition as a new member. With their combined political clout, they managed to get the legislature to send a delegation to the Coalition which evenutually ended with the planet joining the Coalition. Upon joining the Coalition, the Kashan Defence Forces under Commodore Lucerne went beyond their borders, notably engaging an Imperial fleet element in an effort to defend a Coalition diplomat. Shortly thereafter, they joined up with the Gestalt Colonies and hunted down a group of pirates. This resulted in a mutual friendship with Vice-Commodore Shipwright. He headed back to Kashan and took a group of Haven-class Light Cruisers against a criminal outpost that was being used to harass Coalition shipping. While the initial enemy forces on-planet were defeated, they were reinforced by a set of Black Sun vessels. The Kashan fleet itself was also reinforced by a quartet of Seraph-class Cruisers. The resulting battle was a material draw but ended with Genon being Kashan hands. Dawn of the Confederation The capture of Genon was the start of a new movement, of the expansion of Kashan influence and its fellowship with governments with similar ideals. The Commodore met with Vice-Commodore Shipwright of the Gestalt Colonies at Starwind Station, and in the resulting battle against a band of pirates, the two leaders formed a friendship between their two peoples, resulting in the Gestalt-Kashan Hyperlane. Closer to Kashan, the planet's Fleet and Diplomatic Corps, headed by Commodore Lucerne and Pro-Consul Thorn, began several other missions with similarly-minded planets, resulting in the Contegorian Confederation. Most of the missions were purely diplomatic, involving no military action whatsoever, forcing the Commodore to further elaborate and improve his diplomatic and political skills.
