What timeline is TRF set in?
We don't have a precise date that TRF is set in. However, we have a few general timeline statements. We are set several (somewhere between two and three) decades after the events in Return of the Jedi. The cloned Emperor has risen and fallen, as has Thrawn. The events of the New Jedi Order books (the Yuuzhan Vong invasion) have taken place and are now over, though in the TRF galaxy, they never captured Coruscant; they were thrown back from there. Also, a great deal of things have happened in the TRF galaxy: Thrawn has invaded again and been thrown back; the Yuuzhan Vong have attempted to invade Capricia; the New Order expanded to over 1000 worlds, but fell when Tilaric Brel splintered from them and formed the New Empire, unleashing the Wrath Virus and killing over 20 billion people -- and these are just the beginning.
